World Telecom and Information Society Day is an occasion where technology driven companies and organizations look above their day to day business and find a way to give back something positive to the people and society at large by highlighting issues and areas that can further be addressed and explored for our own betterment. The theme chosen this year “Better city, better life with ICTs” could not be more relevant to the present times, where earth is running out of its limited resources and we need to take rigorous steps to save them for our generations to come by utilizing the technology available to our maximum benefit. Working collectively, the level of sophistication today world has achieved in information and technology with fastest mediums of communication available to us, human well being, progress and security is more achievable than ever. PTCL has won more than 50% of all USF projects in broadband, the most significant for the provision of broadband in the under served areas. Today Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) takes its pride in not only being the market leader in telecom sector in Pakistan and committed to provide its customers with most advanced and updated technology for proficient well organized and un-interrupted communication network. But we have also implemented the best environment friendly business practices in our organization. One is discouraging paper culture and shift to soft copy mode. PTCL also collaborates with other organizations and takes initiatives on its own to promote environment friendly culture and encourage practices for sustainable development. We, at PTCL therefore fully stand by WTISD 2010 theme for an improved, secure and healthier world for ourselves and for our future generations. And we highly acknowledge and appreciate you and your magazine ‘TelecomPlus’ efforts and contribution in telecom sector to keep us updated and connected with every advancement and happening, and providing us a platform to voice our opinions and thoughts on matters of concern. Wish you luck.
