Mobilink is aligned with the global “Information &
Communication Technology” Industry and the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council on the occasion of
World Telecom and Information Society Day. We pledge our
support to this year’s theme and reiterate our commitment to
work with other ICT enterprises to contribute towards a
better future for the growing populations of urban centers.
The mobile phone is fast becoming a one-stop tool that
holds the key to the various communication, entertainment
and financial needs of consumers, especially the urban
population by presenting unprecedented convenience.
Moreover, the cell phone has emerged as a useful tool in
managing cities through intelligent traffic control, energy
conservation, waste management, crime control, paperless
office environments and smart buildings. ICT enables instant
exchange of critical information and knowledge while
communicating on the move. This way, radical
transformations are being achieved in the socio-economic
landscape.

lives. The benefits of communication technology are more
visible in the developing countries. High penetration and
accessibility of mobile phones has paved the way for
