Intel started its business in Pakistan in 1997 in three cities. Now we are in 50 cities with about 1000 channel partners registered with us. For the past thirteen years, Intel Pakistan has played a pivotal role in facilitating growth of the local IT industry; from spreading IT awareness within the country to strengthening the local market. When Intel Pakistan started its business thirteen years ago, the Pakistani IT industry was almost nonexistent. We have grown strength to strength and continue to play the role of a catalyst to bring local players on a single platform and help them gain recognition on a national level. The IT industry in Pakistan has undergone a dramatic change in the recent years led by the government with the aim of making it a major player in the industry. With perhaps every global IT company in the world having presence in Pakistan, and with revenues growing by 30%-40% year on year, the IT industry is probably the most exciting and dynamic sector in the country today. The computer industry is characterized by 75,000 professionals, major ongoing IT projects within the government and the private sector to the tune of hundreds of millions of US dollars, and world-class software products and services, company bears testimony to the vibrancy of the IT and IT-enabled services in Pakistan. IT has indeed been taken out of the closet and has been mainstreamed into every aspect of industrial and economic activity within the country.
On the 63rd Independence Anniversary of Pakistan, I am very proud to say that Intel has distinguished itself by becoming the pioneers of technology in the country. Intel has brought to the table a revolution by tremendously enhancing the productivity of professionals, enriching computing experience and empowering the citizens by bringing cutting edge technology, same time it is launched everywhere else in the world.
Recently, Intel launched the all-new 2010 Intel® Core family processors, in Pakistan. The new 2010 Intel Core processors, i3, i5 and i7, are manufactured on the company’s 32 nanometer process, which includes Intel’ s second-generation high-k metal gate transistors
We hope to continue this growth in Pakistan and at the same time fuel growth of the local IT industry. Our aim is to help bridge the digital divide through various initiatives and continue helping the local industry develop. There is still a large segment of the Pakistani population that doesn’t have access to technology. Keeping this in mind, I feel there is immense potential for Pakistan to progress further ahead in these areas.
We pray for peace and prosperity of Pakistan. Amen
